Sabal program at Noamundi

Noamundi, 15th May 2019. In the endeavor towards persons With disability, CSR team in association with VSN organized a training cum orientation program at Sabal Center for Abilities Noamundi. The objective was to build a favorable ecosystem for disability-related initiatives and to generate awareness for building an inclusive society.

The orientation session witnessed enthusiastic participation of 25 volunteers of VSN including a couple of Asha and Anganwadi workers. The visitors appreciated the accessible infrastructure at Sabal. Mr Atul Sahay, Center in-Charge & Sr Manager (Tata Steel), set the context of the day-long training. Mr Shivendra Singh (Enable India) and Ms Amrita Aurora (TSRDS) conducted the training session through role play and interactive methods. Mr Yashwant Singh from Skill Development facilitated the entire program. Mr Tulsi, Unit Head of TSRDS made the final remark to all the participants and urged all to take this journey forward. Mrs Nibedita Nanda, VSN Trustee invited all the inmates and Sabal team to Tata Sponge and VSN for an exchange of thoughts and orientation.

SPLASH 2019!


9-14 May 2019, Bileipada. SPLASH 2019! Summer Camp for school children was successfully organized as a collaborative effort between Vidya Shakti Niyas, Tata Sponge CSR department & Udaan ladies volunteering group. The second edition of summer camp for children was a bagful of learning, training, fun & bonding. Around 98 children from our township and nearby areas participated in the program. The event provided an opportunity to learn interesting stuff including arts & crafts (mask making, T-shirt painting, clay art, logo making), drama & acting, pottery painting, yoga, Zumba & aerobics, table manners, hand painting, chocolate making, dress designing with waste material to show the concept of reduce, reuse, recycle, cooking without fire among others. Parents appreciated VSN & other organizers’ efforts in making good use of children’s leisure during the summer holidays.

Vermicompost Program at Ramchandrapur


Ramchandrapur, 13th February 2019. In its efforts to enrich and empower local farmers, Vidya Shakti Niyas conducted a vermicompost practical training program for Maa Ambika Self Help Group, under the umbrella of VSN, in the village of Ramchandrapur. Mr Rabinarayan Sahu, an expert in vermicompost & other agro-technologies, conducted a hands-on session for the members of the group. The earthworms were successfully cultured on 6th April 2019. The initiative promises to be a source of good income for Maa Ambika SHG.

Beautician Course for Rural Ladies

Bileipada, 2nd April 2019 : Working towards women empowerment through innovative income generating initiatives, Vidya Shakti recently introduced Beautician Training program for the rural women. The program will develop contemporary skills of enrolled students and in due course, provide them the opportunity to be self employed. In a formal event organized by VSN, Mrs Chitrika Pattnaik, Chairperson (VSN) along with Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Mrs Ratna Chattopadhyay, Trustee (VSN) inaugurated the program at the beauty parlor set up for the purpose. Around 6 Dalit & tribe students enrolled in this course. The students, guardians & guests attended the program.

Road Safety Awareness Campaign


Bileipada, 28th March 2019. Vidya Shakti Niyas Driving School organized a Road Safety Awareness Campaign today. The trainees & faculty were joined by several volunteers & trustees in making the program successful. The campaign was conducted at the Birikala Gram Panchayat Road. Pedestrians, bike & 4 wheeler drivers were counseled on the need for appropriate safety measures while driving for the safety of everyone.

Shishu Kalyan Pratiyogita


Bileipada, 6th March 2019. Preliminary rounds of Shishu Kalyan pratiyogita were conducted during the month of February in the near by villages. Around 340 children participated in this program,out of which 182 boys, 158 girls (ST 306,SC 5, Others 29). The final round was conducted on 6th March in VSN Training Hall where 41 children participated.

Shishu Prem Nursery School Annual Function 2019

Bileipada, 1st March 2019. Shishu Prem Nursery School observed its Annual Function with great enthusiasm at the school premises. Little children, teachers & guests participated in the celebrations. A colourful cultural function was presented with the tiny tots beautifully showcasing their talents. Vidya Shakti Niyas trustees, volunteers, teachers & staff were present during the occasion. At the end of the program the children were recognized as per their academic perofrmance throughout the year.

Child Protection Awareness

Bileipada, 23rd February 2019. Mrs. Jayanthi Sheshadri, eminent educator & Presidential Awardee, conducted a session on Child Protection at the Vidya Shakti Niyas Training Hall. An audience of 33 comprising teachers, VSN volunteers & others attending the highly informative session.

Inter Anganwadi Competition

Bileipada, 30th March 2019. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized an inter-anganwadi competition among 30 anganwadis during the entire month of March. The AWS were rated on their performance on the aspects of education, health & overall development of the anganwadi children. The felicitation program was organized at VSN Training Hall, Bileipada. An awareness session on health & hygiene, education etc was conducted with all present. The best AWS were presented with awards by the dignitaries present.
