Mother & Child Care Program

14th-15th October 2016, Panchananpur-Anseikala villages. Vidya Shakti organized mother & child care programs in the villages of Panchananpur & Anseikala villages, around 18 km from Bileipada. The program was attended by around 82 mothers from the above villages. The session focussed on various aspects of mother & child health like proper nutrition, breastfeeding, hygiene etc. An interactive qanseikalauiz session was organized among the audience after the session, with token prizes for the winners. Dr Arabinda Panda took the awareness session along with Ms Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN) and Ms Snigdha Tripathy, Trustee (VSN). They were assisted by Mr Ananta Behera & Ms Leelabati Behera. The program was highly praised by all present.

Triple Accolades for Vidya Shakti Niyas

19th September 2016, Bileipada. Vidya Shakti Niyas won the crowd during Tata Sponge Annual Reward & Recognition show Sparkle Knight, organized in its township. The jam packed auditorium roared with thunderous applaud as Vidya Shakti Niyas won three esteemed awards for its selfless service & contribution to the society. VSN and its affiliates Shishu Prem Nursery School and Jeet Fly Ash Products were honoured with trophies by Tata Sponge management. Mr DP Deshpande, Managing Director, Mr Sanjay Pattnaik, Executive Director along with senior executives honoured the dedicated volunteers during the occasion. The mega event was attended by all  company stakeholders, employees & their family members & guests.

Health Awareness Program at Basudevpur

Basudevpur, 15th September 2016. In its mission to curb water borne diseases from the vicinity, Vidya Shakti Niyas conducted another health awareness camp today at Basudevpur village in the Govt Girls’ High School. Dr Arabinda Panda conducted the program, which include awareness on water born diseases during ongoing monsoons. The program was made interactive and interesting with a question answer session among all present. More than 340 students benefited form the program.

Workshop on Goatery

Panchananpur, 13 September 2016. Vidya Shakti regularly promotes Animal Husbandry among the local villagers in the vicinity. An awareness workshop on Goatery was organized today at Panchananpur village, around 20km from Bileipada, in the village Community Centre. Around 30 villagers including farmers & housewives participated in the workshop. Mr Shyama Mohan Sethi (LI), an expert on Animal Husbandry along with Mr NC Naik elaborated on advantages of Goatery. The program was highly praised by the local villagers.

Health Awareness on Water Borne Diseases

Anseikala, 9th September 2016. Vidya Shakti Niyas conducted a health awareness camp today in the village of Anseikala, around 10 km from Bileipada. The program was conducted by Dr Arabinda Panda, who focused on water borne diseases during the ongoing monsoons. Around 140 students benefited from the program. An interactive question answer session made the event knowledgeable and interesting.

Social Awareness through Plays

Bileipada, 10-11 August 2016. Vidya Shakti Niyas organizes several programs to raise social awareness on various issues impacting life and livelihood across the region. To make the exercise both informative and emotionally rewarding, VSN chose to organize an Inter High School Drama Competition recently at Bileipada. The program was conducted at the Lake View Centre in Tata Sponge township.

The event saw talented students participating from various schools in the region, who presented thought provoking plays on various issues like nurturing of the girl child, to dengue & abolition of child labour. The program was highly successful and was praised by several guests from the community, academia and Tata Sponge.

The program was organized by Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Ms Jolly Patnaik, Trustee (VSN) & other volunteers. The audience which included around 160 students and teachers appreciated the organizers for their successful endeavor.

Panchnanpur Banana Plantation

6 August 2016. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized a plantation program in the village of Panchananpur. The village is home to around 150 households. Saplings of quick growing, high yield  variety of banana were planted by the villagers participated enthusiastically. The plantation will be look after by village committee, with yield expected in one year.pic 2

Plantation program was organized by Vidya Shakti Niyas. Around 40 villagers from Panchananpur involved in plantation. Saplings total 60 saplings of banana planted in the area. Area was alloted by the villagers for the plantation.

Dengue Awareness Program

28-29 July 2016, Joda. Social awareness towards impending diseases is one of the key aspects of Health & Hygiene initiatives by Vidya Shakti Niyas. In this direction, awareness programs on the dreaded Dengue disease was recently conducted at Maa Santoshi High School, Anseikala and Govt Girls’ High School, Basudevpur, with 120 and 340 students respectively, benefiting from the same. Dr Arabinda Panda conducted an informative session focused on the dangers of infection, symptoms, causes and preventive measures to stop further infection in the locality. After the session, an interesting quiz on the same was conducted, with several students responding with encouraging replies.

Ms Leelawati Behera, Mr Ananta Behera and other volunteers of Vidya Shakti Niyas jointly contributed to make the program successful. The school authorities thanked Vidya Shakti Niyas for their noble effort to contain the spread of Dengue in their vicinity.

Adult Literacy Centre at Panchananpur

It is ongoing mission to curb illiteracy from nearby villages, rural education forms a major focus area for Vidya Shakti Niyas. There is a comprehensive ongoing program for improving literacy levels of children from nearby villages. However, a need for adult education in the vicinity has also been felt lately. In this direction, an Adult Literacy Center was started by Vidya Shakti Niyas on 1st July 2016 in the adopted village of Panchananpur. An initiative under the ongoing SAKHYARA program, around 25 ladies & 21 gents participated in the event. Two educated women from the village, Mrs Dukhuni Munda and Mrs Bagun Gagarai are rendering their services in teaching the adult students. Vidya Shakti extends support facilitating daris, slate & chalk, black board, textbooks etc to make the program successful.

Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN) expressed satisfaction at the enthusiasm of the participating students and assured them further support in the cause. Other dignitaries present during the program were Mrs Snigdha Tripaty, Trustee (VSN), Mrs Leelawati Behera & Mr Ananta Behera. The program was support by Mr Basudev Munda, Secretary, Panchananpur Club. The program was highly appreciated by the villagers who thanked Vidya Shakti Niyas for its several charitable initiatives.

AIDS Awareness Program at JFAP

Vidya Shakti organized an AIDS Awareness program at the Jeet Fly Ash Unit, Bileipada, today on 30th June 2016. The fly ash brick making unit employs around 78 contractual employees belonging to neighboring villages. The Chief Guest Mr P Chattopadhyay was joined by Mr SK Mishra, Mr TP Dash, Mr BM Rao, Mr SC Ray, Mr SN Pandey, Ms Shobha Dash, Mr Trilochan Palei, Mr Rajesh Das, Mr AK Panigrahi from Tata Sponge, Ms Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Ms Ratna Chattopadhyay, Trustee (VSN), Ms Snigdha Tripathy, Trustee (VSN), Mr N Balakrishnan, Trustee (VSN) & volunteers during the event. In his address, Mr Chattopadhyay emphasized the need to keep oneself safe from the dreaded disease through self discipline and by following a moral conduct.

Dr Arabinda Panda elaborated on dangers of HIV and prescribed measures and precautions which help avoid infection of the deadly virus. An interesting quiz among the contractual employees was conducted to test their new found knowledge, with the guests presenting several prizes to the winners. The event was hosted by Ms Jolly Pattnaik, Trustee (VSN) assisted by JFAP staff and several volunteers.
