Poultry Farming Training

Panchananpur, 31st May 2018. Vidya Shakti Niyas has been promoting the local community facilitating training & awareness on various lucrative and financially rewarding business ideas. Recently a program on poultry farming was organized in the village of Panchananpur in this direction. The program was conducted by Mr P Mahanta, an expert in poultry farming from Champua. The best practices as well as approaches for better income through the business was discussed. Around 20 ladies & men from the nearby villages benefited from the program. Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN) along with volunteers attended the program.

Health Awareness Camp at Karansahi

6th April 2018. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized a health awareness program in the village of Karansahi recently. The program was organized in the village Anganwadi. Around 54 ladies from the nearby villages attended the program conducted by Dr Arabinda Panda. The program focused on cause & effects of sun stroke and various remedial measures to avoid illness due to over exposure to heat. A question & answer session was conducted during the program to generate audience interest. Token prizes were given for best respondents. Several VSN volunteers were present to make the program successful.

SHG Training

Bileipada, 11th April 2018. Vidya Shakti Niyas has been promoting Self Help Groups across the region with various initiatives. Recently a training program for various SHG members was organized at Vidya Shakti Training Hall. An informative session was taken by Mr Trilochan Palei, Dy Manager (CSR). Financial aspects of SHG, cash book maintenance, book keeping etc were explained in simple language to the attendees. 25 lady members from three SHGs namely Maa Tarini SHG, Maa Mangala SHG & Gouri Shankar SHG attended the program. Also present during the event were Mrs Rosalie Mishra (Secretary) & Mrs S Tripathy (then Trustee) and other volunteers.

Family Planning Awareness

Lahanda, 24 March 2018. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized a Family Planning Awareness program in the village of Lahanda. The program was organized in the UGME school premises. Around 47 ladies from nearby villages attended the meeting. The benefits of family planning, mother & child healthcare were explained during the session. Various queries regarding the subject were clarified. Dr Arabinda Panda, Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Mrs Jolly Pattnaik, Mrs Snigdha Tripathy (both Trustees) were joined by other volunteers in organizing the event.

Educational Aid Meeting

Bileipada, 17th March 2018. As a part of its education initiative, Vidya Shakti Niyas has been encouraging education in the rural community with several scholarships & educational aids, specially for the unprivileged section of the society. Recently a joint meeting was held between Vidya Shakti Niyas and parents of students who have been beneficiaries under VSN. The progress of the students was shared among all present. The program was attended by 48 ladies & gents from nearby villages. Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Ms Jolly Pattnaik, Trustee (VSN), several volunteers & VSN staff.

Shishu Kalyan Pratiyogita

Panchananpur, 7th March 2018. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized a Shishu Kalyan Pratiyogita in the village of Panchananpur, around 19 Km from Bileipada. The event is a continued effort by VSN towards betterment of child & mother healthcare in the surrounding community. 235 little children from nearby villages participated in the event. The finalists with highest scores based on several criteria were awarded by the guests which include Dr Arabinda Panda, Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Mrs Snigdha Tripathy (Trustee), Ms Meera Kamila & Mr Gokul Mahanta (Employees,  TSIL) including several VSN volunteers. The program won praise from the local community.

Shishu Prem Annual Day

Bileipada, 28th February 2018. Shishu Prem Nursery School recently celebrated its Annual Day with great pomp & show. In a grand function organized in the school premises, little students dressed up in a myriad colors presented beautiful cultural performances in front of a packed audience of teachers, parents & other guests.  Present during the occasion were Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary, Mr Samarendra Pattnaik, CHRM (Tata Sponge), Mr JP Mishra, Administrator, Mrs Ratna Chattopadhyay, Mrs Snigdha Tripathy, Mr Mahesh Rathi, Mrs Jolly Pattnaik (all Trustees), Mrs Saroj Manchanda, Education Coordinator & other guests. Prizes were given away to the students with best performance in various fields. The program was highly applauded by the audience.

Recognition to Anganwadis

Bileipada, 24 February 2018. Vidya Shakti has been striving to improve rural basic education. Promotion of local Anganwadis is one of its focus areas. This is achieved through a systematic process of providing educational & other support, guidance and promotion of healthy competition among AWCs. A recognition program was organized at VSN Training Hall to reward AWCs with commendable performance, based on several criteria. Representatives from the AWCs were presented with various awards to appreciate their contribution towards basic education. Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Mrs Ratna Chattopadhyay, Mrs Jolly Pattnaik, Mrs Snigdha Tripathy (all Trustees) were present during the occasion.

Health Awareness Program

Kandara, 21 February 2018. Vidya Shakti Niyas visited Kandara ME School recently to conduct a Health Awareness Program for the students. Around 110 students from nearby villages attended the program. Dr Arabinda Panda counseled the children on importance of health & hygiene along with the need for cleanliness. Also present during the occasion were VSN volunteers & staff. The program was highly praised by the villagers.

Rural Students’ Study Tour

Bileipada, 17th February 2018. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized a Study Tour of rural school students to Tata Sponge. Around 60 students from Lahanda UGME School, Kaliabeda Primary School, Bileipada ME School, Birikala UGME School, guided by 4 teachers took part in the tour. The students were first taken to Tata Sponge Dispensary, where the process of treatment of patients was explained by Head (MHS). The students visited Jeet Fly Ash Products and learnt about making of fly ash bricks and creation of wealth through waste. The students enjoyed the beauty of township gardens, followed by lunch arrangement at Lake View. The program was efficiently managed by Mrs Rosalie Mishra (Secretary), Mrs Ratna Chattopadhyay, Mrs Jolly Pattnaik, Mrs Snigdha Tripathy, (Trustees), VSN volunteers & staff.
