22nd April 2017, Bileipada. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized a 6 day basic computer training program for women. The program on MS Office was organized at the Learning & Development Centre, Bileipada. Around 16 women (10 belong to nearby villages) attended the program. The course covered basic computer prerequisites to entry level skills on the ubiquitous digital office platform. Mrs Sujata Swain volunteered as faculty in the training program. Vidya Shakti Niyas has since long been working in line with the nation’s dream of Digital India.

Shishu Mandir Annual Day

Bileipada, 13 April 2017. Saraswati Shishu Mandir School organized their 21st School Annual Day in their school premises at Bileipada. The school is a temple of education for a number of students coming from nearby villages. The program included presentation of school annual report, prize distribution for various competitive events & a multicolored cultural program presented by the students. Eminent speakers addressed the students and all present. Prominent guests present were Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), representatives from Tata Steel, Jindal, Shree Metaliks, village representatives, school President & Secretary among others. A huge gathering including parents, guests and local villagers witnessed the program.

Vidya Shakti Niyas felicitated Smruti Rekha Mahakud, a multi talented sportsperson from Class IX for her successful performance at the State level athletic competition & for her selection in the national levels. VSN presented the young sportsperson with a medal & token gift while encouraging other students to take up sports along with normal school curriculum. The program ended with a vote of thanks to all who contributed in making the event a success.

BNK High School Annual Day

Purushottampur, 10th April 2017. The BNK High School, Purushottampur organized their Annual Function with great enthusiasm. The Additional Sub Collector, Champua attended the program as the Chief Guest, along with Mr Sumant Giri, Principal PS College, Jhumpura, as Chief Speaker and Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN) as Hon’ble Guest during the occasion. The school annual report was presented. A colorful cultural programs were presented by the students for the guests. The program concluded with prize distribution among students for various sporting activities. The program concluded with sweets distribution.

Sabuja Swapna

Chamamkpur, 30 March 2017. Vidya Shakti has been promoting agriculture through its Sabuja Swapna program. Several initiatives like providing training to farmers, distribution of fertilizers etc. are directed towards increasing farm yield. The program brings improvement in the economic condition of the farming community living in the surrounding villages. Mrs Rosalie Mishra (Secretary) & Mrs Snigdha Tripathy (Trustee) recently visited the farmlands of Chamakpur, covered under Sabuja Swapna program. It was exalting to witness the hard work of the villagers realize into lush green paddy fields. Mrs Rosalie & Mrs Tripathy interacted with the farmers & praised them for putting their new found knowledge to good use.

First Aid Training

Bileipada, 23-25 March 2017. Vidya Shakti recently collaborated with St John Ambulance, Odisha for a First Aid Training Program organized for 45 villagers belonging to surrounding community. The participants included members of local youth club, Anganwadi staff and others. The 3 day program organized at L&D Centre, Bileipada was conducted by Mr Ratikanta Nath from St John Ambulance, Bhubaneswar, who shared his expertise in conducting similar workshops. The program included a free first-aid kit besides assistance in certification from St John Ambulance. Also present during the event were Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary, Mrs Jolly Pattnaik, Trustee, Mrs Snigdha Tripathy, Trustee Dr Ramesha from Tata Sponge and other volunteers.

Shishu Kalyan Pratiyogita at Panchananpur

Panchananpur, 18 March 2017. The annual Shishu Kalyan Pratiyogita was organized at the Community Centre in the Panchananpur village of Keonjhar. The event, organized for the 6th consecutive year, has been witnessing growing number of participants each year. This year participation touched a new high with 187 babies competing for the coveted prize. After stiff competition, 47 babies made it to the final round. The contestants were judged on several criteria, like general health, response, cleanliness and hygiene. Smt Renubala Swain, CDPO Joda (T) attended the program with Dr Arabinda Panda, Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Mrs Jolly Pattnaik & Mrs Snigdha Tripathy, both Trustees (VSN) along with other VSN and village volunteers. The CDPO praised Vidya Shakti for its efforts to raise awareness on better health of mother and child in the surrounding villages.
