Anganwadi Competition


Lahanda, 5 January 2018. Vidya Shakti encourages healthy competition among various Anaganwadi centers in its periphery by awarding AWCs displaying commendable performance. An Anganwadi Competition was conducted recently, among 18 AWCs in the surrounding villages. The AWCs were rated on several criteria taking into account child attendance, learning ability, cleanliness & hygiene, child health and child growth and overall activities. AWCs coming out with best scores were recognized. The program was organized by VSN volunteers.

VSN Volunteers’ Meeting


Bileipada, 2nd January 2018. Vidya Shakti Niyas recently conducted a coordination meeting among its members. The meeting was organized at the VSN Training Hall, Bileipada. Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN) presided over the meeting. Other members present during the occasion were Mrs Ratna Chattopadhyay, Mrs Snigdha Tripathy, both Trustees (VSN), lady volunteers from the township & support staff. Various matters concerning ongoing projects were discussed. The villagers’ feedback & outcome of activities were shared among the attendees. The members were encouraged to come up with innovative ideas to better utilize the resources while improving the lives of the surrounding community.

First Aid Training Certificates

Bileipada, 30th December 2017. Vidya Shakti Niyas recently facilitated First Aid Training for select ladies & gents from the surrounding villages. The crucial and life saving training was provided by Mr RN Nath, from St John Ambulance, Bhubaneswar. Over the course of the 3 day training, 45 candidates learnt important aspects of emergency response during crisis. On successful completion of the program, the candidates were recognized with First Aid Training Certificates. Mrs Chitrika Pattnaik, Chairperson (VSN) presented the certificates in a formal event organized at Learning & Development Centre, Tata Sponge township. Other guests present during the event were Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Mrs Ratna Chattopadhyay & Mrs Snigdha Tripathy, both Trustees (VSN), other volunteers & support staff.

Pre Christmas Celebrations at Shishu Prem Nursery School

Bileipada, 20th December 2017. Shishu Prem Nursery School celebrated Pre Christmas with great enthusiasm at the school premises. The little children, teachers & guests joined the festivities. The Christmas cake was cut and shared among all present. Fun activities with songs & dances were conducted. A Lovable Santa distributed gifts and candies among the overjoyed little kids. Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary, Mrs Jolly Pattnaik, Mrs Snigdha Tripathy (all Trustees), Mrs Saroj Manchanda, Education Coordinator (Shishu Prem), all teachers & staff were present during the occasion.

Inter School Speech Competition

Bileipada, 16th December 2017. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized an Inter-School Speech Competition recently for all round development of rural school children. The event was organized at VSN Training Hall, Bileipada. Eight schools from the periphery villages participated with their best students during the event. Around 24 students participated in the event with best students taking away the winners’ prizes. A panel of judges evaluated the performance of the students. The panel included Mr Trilochan Palei, Dy Mgr (CSR), Mrs Snigdha Tripathy (Trustee), Mrs Sabitri Moharana. Prominent guests present during the event included Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN) & other volunteers. All contestants received participation prizes during the event.

JFAP Medical Camp

Bileipada, 13th December 2017. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized a free medical-diagnostics camp at Jeet Fly Ash Products factory at Bileipada. The camp focused on diagnostic test of JFAP employees for common ailments, blood grouping etc. 63 persons benefited during the above event. Vidya Shakti Niyas distributed free basic medicines to patients as per prescription. Dr Arabinda Panda, Mr Subham Sahu (Medical Technician) conducted the camp. Mr Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN) Mr Samrendra Pattnaik, CHRM (TSIL), Mr JP Mishra, Adminstrator (VSN), Mr Mahesh Rathi, Mrs Jolly Pattnaik, Mrs Snigdha Tripathy, all Trustees (VSN) and other volunteers attended the program at JFAP premises.

Panchananpur Annual Sports

Panchananpur, 14th December 2017. The Panchananpur UP High School organized its Annual Sports Day recently. Children competed in various events like running race, discuss throw, javelin throw and traditional games like ‘puchi’,  among others. Spectators included ladies, children & men from nearby villages. The event concluded with prize distribution among the winning students. All other students received participation prizes. All prizes were sponsored by Vidya Shakti Niyas. Important guest during the event included Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Mrs S Tripathy, Mrs Jolly Pattnaik (both Trustees) and other volutneers.

Sweater Distribution at Panchananpur


Panchananpur, 9th December 2017. To help little children better cope during the ongoing winters, Vidya Shakti Niyas distributed warm clothes among the students of Panchananpur Anganwadi Center. The children were overjoyed to receive the warm sweaters which they immediately put on with smiling faces. During the occasion, VSN also donated a pressure cooker & essential utensils to the AWC. Guests present during the occasion were Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary, Mrs Snigdha Tripathy, Trustee, several volunteers & staff. All present thanked VSN’s efforts towards support of education in the region.

World AIDS Day Program at Lahanda

Lahanda, 1st December 2017. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized an awareness camp on World AIDS Day in the village of Lahanda. The interactive program attended by around 38 village residents, mostly young & old ladies. Dr Arabinda Panda took an informative session on the causes, symptoms, remedies & precautions of the deadly killer disease. Preventive measures to check spread of HIV was explained to all present. A Q&A session encouraged the audience to check their knowledge on the subject with instant prizes given for correct responses. Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Mrs S Tripathy, Trustee (VSN), Mr Satyanarayan Nanda, Head CSR (TSIL), Mr Rajesh Das, Sr Officer CC (TSIL), several VSN volunteers & staff attended the program.

Fancy Dress Competition at Panchananpur


Panchananpur, 20th November 2017. A fancy dress competition was organized at the UP High School Panchananpur recently. The school is located at Panchananpur village, around 17 Km from Bileipada. Around 129 students from nearby villages regularly attend the school. Students colorfully dressed up in various impersonations presented themselves during the occasion. Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN) & Mrs S Tripathy, Trustee (VSN) attended the program organized by several volunteers from township and village. The best entrants were rewarded with various prizes after the event.
