Free Health Camp at Lahanda

Lahanda, 30 June 2017. A free health camp was organized at the Lahanda Mundasahi School on 30th June 2017. A medical team headed by Dr Arabinda Panda conducted the program at the school. Around 114 patients that include children, ladies & gents visited the camp, where they received free counselling and basic medicines provided by Vidya Shakti Niyas. Several guests including Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), VSN Trustees, media personnel and others attended the event.

In Fond Memory

Late Jyoti Nath

Bileipada, 20th June 2017. Shishu Prem Nursery School lost one of its most beloved teachers, Mrs Jyoti Nath, who left for her heavenly abode recently. She is survived by her husband and two loving children. A condolence meeting was held at the school in her fond memory. Teachers, students & parents gathered to share their stories and fond memories with Late Jyoti Nath.

It would have been nice to enjoy this life together, but you left us like a lightning. With eyes full of tears and our crushed hearts, we love you and we will not ever forget the moments we shared. God rest you in peace.

Environment Month at Shishu Prem Nursery School

To Save Earth

To Save Earth

Bileipada, 5th June 2017. While bringing enlightenment through education, Shishu Prem Nursery School has also endeavored to cultivate a sense of appreciation towards nature among its students. Little children learn about the significance of environment conservation and its relation to sustenance of all life on Earth. A drawing cum exhibition was recently organized at the school with the theme ‘To Save Earth‘ during World Environment Day 2017. Adorable little artistes expressed themselves on the drawing sheets, creating distinct lines flooded with myriad colors from the rainbow. The teachers and parents appreciated the little artistes as they tried to replicate an imprint of the vivid imagination of their nascent minds.

International Yoga Day at Shishu Prem Nursery School

Bileipada, 21 June 2017. The Shishu Prem Nursery School today joined the entire world in observing the International Day of Yoga. While the school curriculum puts special emphasis on physical activity for young children, Yoga has been recently introduced for physical & spiritual well being of the growing child. The internationally significant day was observed with a special Yoga session conducted at the school premises. Shishu Prem teachers coordinated with the students in performing several Yoga asanas. Mrs Chitra Rani Mishra, Mrs Savitri Moharana, Mrs Trupty Dash, Mrs Sasmita Rath, Mrs S Kar & others were present during the occasion. Mrs Saroj Manchanda, Education Coordinator (VSN) provided guidance in organizing the above event.

Distribution of Plough

Bileipada, 27th May 2017. Promoting agriculture in the local villagers, Vidya Shakti distributed plough sets among the farmers of Panchananpur & Chamakpur villagers. Around 57 farmers benefited from the program. Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Mr JP Mishra, Administrator cum Occupier (VSN), Mr AC Nayak, Mr Mahesh Rathi, Ms Snigdha Tripathy (Trustees, VSN) & staff (VSN) were present during the occasion.

Rice Farming Training

Bileipada, 10th June 2017. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized a Rice Farming Training program at the VSN Training Hall recently to promote agriculture in the region. Mr Balaram Singh, AO (Champua) andMr Jayanta Mohanty, VAW (Guali), both experts on the subject gave extensive insight into the agricultural process. Around 87 villagers from Chamakpur, Panchananpur, Lahanda & Gobindpur villages benefited from the training program. After completion of the program, rice seeds were distributed among the farmers. Also present during the event were Mr M Rathi, Mr AC Nayak, Ms Snigdha Tripathy, (all Trustees, VSN), Mr Ananta Behera & Ms Leelabati Behera (both staff, VSN).

Donation of Ducks

Panchananpur, 9 June 2017. Vidya Shakti has been promoting income generation in the community through various programs, providing support through awareness & training on animal husbandry being one the many. As an extension to recently imparted Duckery Farming training to the villagers, Vidya Shakti donated 20 healthy ducks to the community to jump start the program at Panchananpur village. The village ladies were glad to receive the ducks from Mrs Snigdha Tripathy (Trustee) along with Mr Ananta Behera & Ms Leelawati Behera, both staff (VSN).

Anganwadi Competitions

Nearby villages, April-May 2017. Improvement of pre primary education around the region being one of the primary focus areas in its educational initiative, Vidya Shakti has been organizing Anganwadi Competitions in the surrounding villages, namely Mutuda, Lahanda, Kaliabeda, Rupasahi, Karansahi, Anseikala, Sanbadbil, Panchananpur, Narayanpur, Daduan etc. All round growth is ensured through inventive teaching methodology. During the event, students were scored on various activities, judged by select VSN volunteers and Trustees, under the guidance of Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Mrs Jolly Pattnaik & Mrs Snigdha Tripathy, both Trustees (VSN).

Adieu Friends : Heartfelt Farewell

Bileipada, 20-21 May 2017. Vidya Shakti Niyas bid a heartfelt farewell to two of its dear family members recently. Mr Sapan Bose & Mrs Debjani Rai have been associated with the charitable organization for years, working towards its goal and significantly contributing in its growth. The parting members have retired after a long & fruitful association with VSN. In formal farewell ceremonies organized at Jamnotri, Tata Sponge township, the members thanked the parting members for everything.

Awareness Session on Education

Bileipada, 13 May 2017. Education plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the people. Vidya Shakti’s various initiatives pertaining to rural literacy have helped the unprivileged members of the community have a second chance to join the mainstream through education and skill development. An awareness cum evaluation meeting among beneficiaries was recently organized at the Vidya Shakti Training Hall, Bileipada. The program focused on child progress and issues hindering educational development. Around 30 beneficiaries shared their views during the program. Mrs Rajeshwari Nagarajan, Mr Ananta Behera along with Ms Leelawati Behera (VSN) successfully conducted the program.
