Sabuja Swapna

Chamamkpur, 30 March 2017. Vidya Shakti has been promoting agriculture through its Sabuja Swapna program. Several initiatives like providing training to farmers, distribution of fertilizers etc. are directed towards increasing farm yield. The program brings improvement in the economic condition of the farming community living in the surrounding villages. Mrs Rosalie Mishra (Secretary) & Mrs Snigdha Tripathy (Trustee) recently visited the farmlands of Chamakpur, covered under Sabuja Swapna program. It was exalting to witness the hard work of the villagers realize into lush green paddy fields. Mrs Rosalie & Mrs Tripathy interacted with the farmers & praised them for putting their new found knowledge to good use.

First Aid Training

Bileipada, 23-25 March 2017. Vidya Shakti recently collaborated with St John Ambulance, Odisha for a First Aid Training Program organized for 45 villagers belonging to surrounding community. The participants included members of local youth club, Anganwadi staff and others. The 3 day program organized at L&D Centre, Bileipada was conducted by Mr Ratikanta Nath from St John Ambulance, Bhubaneswar, who shared his expertise in conducting similar workshops. The program included a free first-aid kit besides assistance in certification from St John Ambulance. Also present during the event were Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary, Mrs Jolly Pattnaik, Trustee, Mrs Snigdha Tripathy, Trustee Dr Ramesha from Tata Sponge and other volunteers.

Shishu Kalyan Pratiyogita at Panchananpur

Panchananpur, 18 March 2017. The annual Shishu Kalyan Pratiyogita was organized at the Community Centre in the Panchananpur village of Keonjhar. The event, organized for the 6th consecutive year, has been witnessing growing number of participants each year. This year participation touched a new high with 187 babies competing for the coveted prize. After stiff competition, 47 babies made it to the final round. The contestants were judged on several criteria, like general health, response, cleanliness and hygiene. Smt Renubala Swain, CDPO Joda (T) attended the program with Dr Arabinda Panda, Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), Mrs Jolly Pattnaik & Mrs Snigdha Tripathy, both Trustees (VSN) along with other VSN and village volunteers. The CDPO praised Vidya Shakti for its efforts to raise awareness on better health of mother and child in the surrounding villages.

Parent Trustee Meeting

16 March 2017, Bileipada. Vidya Shakti Niyas has been working towards betterment of of rural education as one of its prime objectives. Providing scholarships to children of unpriviliged families is one of its attempts to fight illeteracy in the community. In this direction, a meeting between VSN Trustees and parents of above beneficiaries was organized at VSN Training Hall, Bileipada. More than 60 parents attended the meeting. Discussions were made on raising awareness levels on education in the community. Progress on education of the beneficiary students was discussed. Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Mrs Jolly Pattnaik, Mrs Singdha Tripadhy, Mr Sachi Sahoo, Ms Leelawati Behera & Mr Ananta Behera from VSN attended the program.

Family Planning Program at Lahanda

Lahanda, 15th February 2017. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized a family planning program at Lahanda village, about 3km from Bileipada. The program focused on various benefits of family planning. Around 28 ladies from Lahanda, who had undergone family planning operation under VSN’s earlier awareness drive, attended the program. The ladies were praised for their raised awareness. They were motivated with the cooperation of Mrs Bhama Mahanta of Lahanda. Small gifts were distributed among the ladies as a token of appreciation. Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary, Mrs Jolly Pattnayak, Trustee, Mrs Leelawati Behera & Mr Ananta Behera, Staff (VSN) organized the program with assistance of Mrs Jema Mahanta, Mrs Kuni Mahanta & village ladies.

Vegetable Farming at Panchananpur

Panchananpur, 21st January 2017. Vidya Shakti Niyas regularly distributes farming resources among nearby villages as a part of its ongoing agriculture promotion program. In a recent visit by VSN, the villagers proudly showcased their cultivated lands laden with fresh vegetables like cabbage, potato, onion etc, grown from seeds received from Vidya Shakti. The rich harvest has encouraged several other villagers to take up vegetable cultivation to supplement their income.

Republic Day Celebrations at JFAP

Bileipada, 26th January 2017. Republic Day 2017 was observed with great enthusiasm at the Jeet Ash Fly Ash Products on 26th January. The National Festival was attended by Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), the Trustees (VSN), JFAP staff, volunteers and guests. The Tricolor was unfurled by Mrs Mishra in presence of the crowd. The National Anthem was rendered with all standing up to honour the Nation. JFAP staff who have shown exemplary dedication towards their work were recognized by the guests with several prizes. The program ended with sweets distribution among all present.

Shishu Prem Celebrates Republic Day

Bileipada, 26th January 2017. The tiny toddlers of Shishu Prem Nursery School joined the Nation in Republic Day Celebrations on this proud day. The little students dressed up in their school uniforms assembled early morning and saluted the National Flag as it was unfurled by Mr P Chattopadhyay, COO (SB), Tata Sponge along with Ms Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), trustees, volunteers and school teaching staff. Parents gathered to witness several activities of the young children, which include a wonderfully choreographed parade, cultural presentation etc. Sweets were distributed at the end of the program.

Panchananpur Ladies Sports

Panchananpur, 27 January 2017. Ladies of Panchananpur village, about 20 km from Bileipada had another opportunity to showcase their sporting talents recently. The women enthusiastically participated in 2nd Annual Rural Sports Meet 2017 for Women, organized by Vidya Shakti Niyas. Around 48 ladies took part in several events like balancing race, blind folded pot hit, memory test & several other interesting events. The event was attended by Mrs Rosalie Mishra, Secretary (VSN), special senior guest, Mrs Dash, Mrs Snigdha Tripathy & Mrs Jolly Pattnaik, both Trustees (VSN), Mrs Pramila Pradhan, Mrs Lily Pradhan, Mrs Pranati Pradhan, Mrs Swapna Mukherjee assisted by  & Mrs Leelawati Behera & Mrs Ananta Behera. More than 200 spectators enjoyed the event. Panchananpur villagers appreciated the efforts by Vidya Shakti Niyas in promoting sports among rural women.

Inter High School Essay Comp

Bileipada, 12th January 2017. Vidya Shakti Niyas organized an Inter Hi School Essay Competition at the VSN Training Hall recently. Around 33 students from 11 schools around the region participated in the event. The talented students wrote essay on ‘Terrorism’ and ‘Effect of Television’. The students expressed their views beautifully on the above subjects. The winning students were awarded awards during the event.
